The Center for Comedic Studies (CCS) exists for the advancement of comedy through original research, scholarly writing and the collection of primary source material. Using the vast comedic archives of the Comedy Hall of Fame and the intellectual resources of a partner institution, the Center for Comedic Studies aims to build an academic community around the comedic arts where there has never been one before.
In addition to maintaining and expanding the Archive, the CCS will be involved in publishing scholarly articles, journals and publications as well as organizing conferences, events and symposiiums pertaining to its mission. As the only organization of its kind, the center will be the primary hub for comedic scholarship around the world.
In its current state, the CCS exists as the Archive of primary source material consisting of individual volumes that together make up the largest and most comprehensive oral history of comedy in the last hundred years. It is our hope that these volumes can be properly preserved and studied so they may perpetuate intellectual interest and assist in academic research pertaining to the comedic arts.
